An Foras Feasa's Digital Humanities Education Programme (DHEP) has emerged from pioneering and longstanding partnerships between Humanities and Computer Science researchers at the National University of Ireland Maynooth and its partner institutions within An Foras Feasa.
It provides opportunities for Humanities students, researchers and staff to exploit the potential of Computer Science to support and contribute to Humanities research.
This programme saw the introduction in 2008 of undergraduate modules in Humanities Computing, as well as postgraduate and doctoral modules.
Initially the DHEP programme will support four following core streams:
- Image Processing
- Text Processing
- Software Engineering for Humanities
- Digital Humanities
It will facilitate the development among humanities researchers and students of computing skills previously considered the domain of the Software Engineer, for instance online database development, textual and image processing, and information modeling.
